Turkey stopped people had planned to assassinate Obama
Turkish security services arrested a man suspected of plotting to assassinate the U.S. president Barack Obama during his visit to Turkey, police also arrested a group of protesters gathered near the hall where he met the visiting president a number of university students. Was quoted by AFP news agency on Tuesday, Turkish security source speaking on condition of anonymity as saying that Turkish security forces last week arrested a citizen of Turkey on the basis of information accusing him of plotting to assassinate the U.S. president during his visit to Turkey which will conclude Tuesday. The source added that the suspect was arrested in Istanbul for a short period of time which shows that the detainee is mentally ill and posed no security threat coming to release him without taking any legal action against him. Meanwhile, riot police arrested a Turkish group of individuals opposed to Obama's visit to their country when they gathered to protest in front of a hall in Istanbul, while the president was the guest will meet a group of university students. According to media sources that the arrest of the group, which belongs to the left-wing party came against the background of its members clash with police who also announced the arrest of a number of Green Party activists, who are sailing in the Strait of Bosporus, holding banners calling for action to address the issue of climate change.
